More apparent 'bribes' to 'Special Interest Groups', this is ridiculous if the 'grants' are not extended to Non-Muslim and Non-Lebanese groups.  If it was extended to all, then why would there be the newspaper article about it?  Surely the Aged Care Facilities, if run as other ones (e.g. people paying a load of money for accommodation, amenities, entertainment, food, and nursing if required - then they should not need government hand-outs.  After all, if the need is there then they have the money available at short notice (or it could go into an escrow account (old age deposit - start saving for Granny/Grandpa, or be borrowed from a bank if required).

Oh, apparently another son is a senior / key 'advisor' (sound like about $200k per year of tax payers money to me).  Then there is the ALP Digital Team son also sucking out money.  More of the Rudd family with their noses in the trough?

The Australian Labor Party, besides spelling 'Labour' as 'Labor', are supposedly against 'Aristocracy', 'Inheritance', 'Harassment', and 'Bullying'...

but now Kevin Rudd's youngest son is going around, with other ALP 'Digital Team' employees harassing and bullying people.  Filming them without them doing anything 'wrong' (different if say witnessing a crime).

It also helps show what bullies they are - and how croynism and nepotism continues to be rife in the ALP - not forgetting such things as:

Eric Fitzgibbon (who once wrote me a letter for an achievement I did when I was in Year 1), and his son Joel Fitzgibbon, both representing ALP for the Federal Seat of Hunter;

Peter Morris, his brother Allan Morris, and his son Matthew Morris (who lied about me on NBN TV to get a few extra votes at the expense of the truth), all  representing ALP, for the Federal Seat of Shortland,  the Federal Seat of Newcastle, and the State Seat of Charlestown (order follows names); &

Bob Brown, and his daughter Kelly Hoare, both representing ALP for the Federal Seat of Charlton.

That is just in the local area too - and remembering that 'Pre Selection' within the Big Two Parties means that they are very likely to win - especially in 'safe seats'.

  • THE DAILY TELEGRAPH, Labor pledges $20 million in grants to Sydney's Muslim and Lebanese Christian communities
  • PATRICK LION &ADAM VIDLER, AUGUST 12, 2013

AT least $20 million in grants will be given for aged care facilities in western suburbs seats as Labor continues to woo Sydney's Muslim and Lebanese Christian communities.

The government has pledged $10 million for the Lebanese Muslim Association to build an aged care home, expected to have 80 to 100 beds, near the Lakemba Mosque to help "culturally and linguistically diverse" seniors.

Last night, another $5 million was promised to the Maronite Eparchy of Australia after earlier giving the same amount to the group's Our Lady of Lebanon Aged Care Hostel in Harris Park and to establish Saint Charbel's Care Centre in Punchbowl.

The moves are being seen as an attempt to protect safe Labor heartland seats, such as Immigration Minister Tony Burke's electorate of Watson, Blaxland, held by Home Affairs Minister Jason Clare, Labor backbencher John Murphy's seat of Reid and Parramatta's Julie Owens.

The government is worried about a repeat of the backlash at the state election, the presence of Liberal candidate and honorary Bangladeshi consul-general Anthony Khouri in Mr Clare's seat and Muslim candidates running for Clive Palmer's party.

Australian Bureau of Statistics figures show there are 20,853 Muslims in the Lakemba state electorate - almost one in four people. Nationally, Muslims account for one in almost 50 people.

Islamic Friendship Association of Australia spokesman Keysar Trad said, while they were safe Labor seats, the Liberals and Mr Palmer's party had made inroads.

"They probably think this will lock in some votes ... the community has been begging for aged care support facilities for 20 years," Mr Trad said.

Labor holds the seat of Watson by 9.1 per cent but is under a significant amount of pressure in Sydney's west amid cost of living and infrastructure pressures and the NSW Labor's ICAC scandal.

3AW Radio,  Snapped: PM's car in disabled park
    08 08 2013

A 3AW listener reckons Kevin Rudd might have a big parking fine in the mail.

Melbourne man 'Clive' sent Neil Mitchell this photo of the Prime Minister's car contravening at least a couple of parking rules.

"Kev’s car was enjoying a triple parking infringement today at the NSW Technology Park," Clive said.

"Disabled parking, loading zone and in front of two post boxes.

"I wouldn’t want to be the disabled postal service delivery guy there today - their rights are certainly below that of our country’s leader!"

For sending in the photo, Clive goes into the draw for a Neil's Pics prize.

    News Limited Network

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's youngest son Marcus joins Labor's digital campaign team
Steve Lewis National political correspondent  01 08 2013

KEVIN Rudd has placed both his sons in key election roles in an 'all-in-the-family' move that has ruffled feathers within Labor's campaign team.

Youngest son Marcus, 20, has joined the ALP's digital campaign team - and has already caused a stir after suggesting the use of a video from the TV satire, The Hollowmen.

And there are signs of renewed tensions emerging within Labor's campaign machine following the June leadership coup against Julia Gillard.

A senior strategist, Nathan Lambert, has been moved into a new role to make way for NSW state secretary and Rudd loyalist Sam Dastyari, provoking a fiery attack from Mr Lambert's father via email.

The Prime Minister's older son, Nicholas, 24, has been on the ALP payroll for several weeks as a key adviser to his father.  Marcus has joined the ALP's digital campaign team - which will be bolstered by the import of several members of Barack Obama's campaign squad - as a volunteer.  But the youngest of the Rudd children caused bemusement when he suggested the release of a Hollowmen clip - only to be told the satirical series was loosely based on his father's first stint.

The appointments have not been met with universal acclaim. "People are pretty p****d off that both Rudd's sons are going to be there," a senior Government adviser said.

Meanwhile, John Lambert, father of Labor's assistant national secretary, has written to a federal Labor MP and lashed out at the Prime Minister's reputation for being a tough and unrelenting boss.

In an email obtained by News Corp Australia, Mr Lambert claims his son was moved after he tried to "negotiate a compromise" over the campaign budget - and he points the finger at Mr Rudd.

Mr Lambert Snr, in the email to Victorian MP Darren Cheeseman, claims he has "known for a long time that many of those who work around Kevin (Rudd) are poorly looked after by Kevin and his closest advisers - his staff turnover and arguable bullying have made the news regularly".

    • THE DAILY TELEGRAPH, Kevin Rudd's son Marcus confronts LNP campaign workers in YouTube pranks

    JOHN LEHMANN JUNE 06, 2013

KEVIN Rudd's youngest son Marcus has been wielding a video camera on the campaign trail, goading his father's opponents into a slanging match.

The teenaged Rudd has confronted Liberal National Party campaign workers on the streets of Brisbane's Griffith electorate over recent weekends, challenging them to defend their party's policies.

The Daily Telegraph has obtained video footage and photos of the young Rudd in action, teaming up with other aggressive Labor activists working southern Brisbane suburbs, such as Bulimba and West End.

LNP Griffith candidate Bill Glasson yesterday branded the electoral manoeuvrings "childish", but has instructed his workers to take their own footage of the Labor video squads.

"We told our volunteers to play a straight bat and not to verbally respond to the goading," Dr Glasson said.

"Who knows what they're trying to do - put it up on Facebook or something?

"The people of Griffith don't want childish antics, they want to know how we're going to get the country moving."

Two video segments, filmed by Rudd Jr, were uploaded to YouTube this week.

The 2013 election is the first poll in which the 19-year-old will have a chance to vote.

He has been a witness to the highs and lows of his father's political career - he was at his side as a 13-year-old during the victory speech at the 2007 election, and stood in the background at the emotional press conference when the prime minister was knifed by his Labor colleagues.

The former Labor leader's media adviser Patrick Gorman, who appears in the YouTube footage, said LNP workers were only featured in the footage if they "walked into shot".

He said some of the LNP workers had responded by yelling "some pretty silly abuse".

"We have just sought to film the posters of the Liberal National candidate that are spread across the electorate next to his quotes and stated policy positions," Mr Gorman said.

"As for complaining about still shots and video, the LNP have been doing this for months - we have evidence of LNP representatives taking photos and video of our volunteers for a number of weeks.

"We have nothing to hide here - all robust competition in a democracy."
